This delicious cream fruit chaat combines the sweetness of fruits with the richness of cream and the tangy spices of traditional chaat. It's a perfect halal-friendly dessert for any occasion!
Ingredients:
For the Cream Base:
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
- 1 tsp rose water
- 1 cup thick yogurt (Greek yogurt works well)
For the Fruit Mixture:
- 1 apple, diced
- 1 banana, sliced
- 1 cup strawberries, quartered
- 1 cup mango, diced
- 1 cup grapes, halved
- 2 kiwis, peeled and diced
- 1/2 cup pomegranate arils
- 1 orange or 2 tangerines, segmented
For the Chaat Masala Mixture:
- 1 tsp chaat masala
- 1/2 tsp roasted cumin powder
- 1/4 tsp black salt (kala namak)
- Pinch of regular salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper powder
For Garnish:
- 2 tbsp pistachios, chopped
- 2 tbsp almonds, sliced
- 1 tbsp dried rose petals (optional)
- Fresh mint leaves
- 1 tbsp honey for drizzling
Instructions:
1. Prepare the cream base:
- Gradually add powdered sugar while continuing to whip until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold in the cardamom powder and rose water.
- Fold in the yogurt until completely incorporated.
- Refrigerate while preparing the fruits.
2. Prepare the fruits:
- Wash, peel, and chop all fruits into bite-sized pieces.
- Place them in a large mixing bowl.
- For fruits that brown easily like apples and bananas, toss them with a little lemon juice.
3. Prepare the chaat masala mixture:
- In a small bowl, combine chaat masala, roasted cumin powder, black salt, regular salt, and black pepper powder.
- Mix well and set aside.
4. Assemble the cream fruit chaat:
- Sprinkle half of the chaat masala mixture over the fruits and gently toss.
- Take the cream mixture out of the refrigerator and fold in the fruits carefully.
- Sprinkle the remaining chaat masala mixture over the top.
5. Serve:
- Transfer the cream fruit chaat to a serving bowl or individual dessert glasses.
- Garnish with chopped pistachios, sliced almonds, dried rose petals, and fresh mint leaves.
- Drizzle with honey just before serving.
- Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to 30 minutes before serving.
