Floral Biscuits Recipe


These butter-soft floral biscuits are delicate, beautiful treats perfect for special occasions like Eid celebrations. With a subtle floral flavor and decorative touches, they make a lovely addition to any dessert table.



 Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon rose water or orange blossom water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder


For decoration:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk or water
  • Food coloring (pink, yellow, lavender)
  • Edible dried flowers (rose petals, lavender, etc.)


Instructions:


  1. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and rose water/orange blossom water. Mix until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and baking powder.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  5. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  6. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  7. Roll out the chilled dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.
  8. Cut out flower shapes using cookie cutters, or round shapes that can be decorated as flowers.
  9. Place the biscuits on the prepared baking sheets, leaving about an inch between each.
  10. Bake for 8-10 minutes until the edges are just barely golden. Don't overbake!
  11. Allow to cool completely on a wire rack before decorating.


For the icing:

  1. Mix the powdered sugar with enough milk to create a thick but spreadable icing.
  2. Divide the icing into small bowls and add different food coloring to each.
  3. Decorate the cooled biscuits with the colored icing and sprinkle with edible dried flowers while the icing is still wet.
  4. Allow the icing to set completely before serving or storing.
